Combat plays out on a three-by-three grid where the hero faces enemies down a shared lane, firing a standard buster while drawing from a customizable deck of Battle Cards. Cards supply stronger attacks, elemental damage, defensive tools and summonable allies, and assembling a folder that suits a given boss forms much of the strategic depth. Outside of battle, players explore towns in the physical world, then shift perspective to travel along Wave Roads suspended above the streets, solving problems for characters and tracking down hidden paths.
