The Knight Witch is a metroidvania adventure game with fast-paced, shoot ’em up combat set in a beautifully hand-drawn world. Cast devastating card-based spells, forge close bonds, and make moral choices all in your quest to save your home and discover who’s behind the War Golem invasion. I played The Knight Witch to its completion and I’ve seen many reviews focusing on the metroidvania, bullethell & deckbuilding parts of the game, but I don’t think this sort of categorisation makes much sense on this game. Yes there are a lot

of bullets on screen sometimes. No, you cannot dodge at the beginning (hey, it’s a cool upgrade). Yes there are hard sections (but there is a cheat system to help you with that if you get blocked and you’re encouraged to use it in these cases). No, the submarine doesn’t suck (or maybe yes, but maybe that’s the point? think how much better you’re gonna fight afterwards, as you’re forced to use the cards better). You see, this is a different game, and as it happens with new things it’s not easy to fit it into a box that we’ve already opened before.
