STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is a modern reimagining of the original STEINS;GATE visual novel. It follows Rintaro Okabe, a young self-proclaimed mad scientist in Akihabara, and his group of friends as they accidentally discover a way to send messages into the past. What initially seems like a harmless experiment quickly becomes dangerous because changing the past also changes the present and can create completely different timelines.
The game is mainly a story-driven visual novel rather than an action game. You read the story, interact with characters, make decisions, and use Okabe’s phone to influence events. Your choices can change the direction of the story and lead to different endings. The new version features completely refreshed character artwork, improved backgrounds, a redesigned interface, smoother character animations, a remade soundtrack, and newly recorded Japanese voices. Akihabara has also been recreated in much greater detail.
