There are two things that may turn players off in particular before I talk more. Rhythm sprout is an incredibly poor experience on a real controller over actual keyboard. The latency does not feel right and the control scheme cannot be changed with the current one sucking a lot (Control Stick for Left notes, ABXY for Right, Shoulder Buttons for Dodge is a terrible control scheme that’s easy to mess up). So if you aren’t a keyboard player go get the console version of the game or get some sort of remapping tool. This also means that I would not recommend this game for Steam Deck.

Other problem is less-so a problem and more-so just the fact that from my experience right now and with the demo and footage I have seen and the few reviews there really isn’t much variety beyond just using left-right and the dodge button. The difficulty definitely scales up fast and it’s about mastering these three controls. Honestly I don’t mind it as I like how accessible and non-gimmicky the game is but it’s an ultimately VERY simple d-pad only game.
