HunterX Free Download (v1.1.3)
HunterX is an action-adventure game full of spirited battles. Use various styles of weapons and magic to experience your own fighting style and explore a great world. If you enjoy semi-challenging metroidvanias this may be for you. The controls are tight and the bosses aren’t complete pushovers. Normal enemies can even get the better of you if you don’t respect them. The music ranges from good to great. The English translation is not the best at release but it’s passable. A full playthrough took me about 11 hours and I had no major bugs or crashes, rare these days. Overall, a hidden gem among the pile of indie trash. For 15 bucks you could do worse. But, you could also do significantly better.

Hard to describe but it feels like a lost classic ps2 game, in a very good way. I love it. Soundtrack is great, it pulls no punches. A fine peice of art that manages to capture that feel that the certain PS2 games have flawlessly. I am constantly questioning if this was some hidden old gem of a game that some big publisher decided to release on steam, but it actually was made and released this year! Congrats on the team for making such a fun game that really feels like nothing I have played before but feels like a classic I missed out on growing up. 10/10 a must try. The attack and movement is obviously a big difference. No jump diagonal attacking to be found here. The weapons are all near
universally the same. Picking up a mace does not give you a mace’s moveset as it would in Castlevania, it uses the same bog standard attack animation. Enemy attacks and boss damage eventually enter a territory to which no amount of health upgrades will enable you to survive a combo if you can’t escape the juggle state due to depleted stamina. The game draws extremely heavy inspiration from the souls series of games. The combat and exploration are massively underwhelming for a metroidvania. Teleport locations are sparsely placed throughout the zones that make the game a chore to backtrack. A feature mercifully kept lightweight due to the limited exploration in the first place. The maps are unimaginative slogs through gauntlets of enemies which themselves almost exclusively exist to be killed and all of which take slightly more damage than they should.
