Can I Come In? is a short first-person psychological horror experience built around atmosphere, tension and the slow erosion of a sense of safety. Rather than combat or puzzles in the traditional sense, it leans on walking-simulator design: exploration at a deliberate pace, close observation of an ordinary environment, and a mounting suspicion that something in that environment has changed. The whole story unfolds within a single evening and takes most players somewhere between half an hour and an hour to see through.

The player takes the role of a teenager coming back from school to an empty apartment. With the parents away visiting friends for the night, the home becomes a solitary space governed by one simple instruction: keep the door shut, no matter who is on the other side. That single rule frames everything that follows, turning an unremarkable domestic routine into a test of nerve as the hours pass and the light outside disappears.

Much of the game’s identity comes from its setting, a carefully reconstructed Soviet-era apartment and the surrounding residential block. Patterned wallpaper, aging furniture, cluttered shelves and narrow hallways are rendered in realistic detail, giving the space a lived-in specificity that makes small disturbances easy to notice. Corridors, stairwells and the building itself extend the sense of place beyond the front door, so the apartment feels less like a level and more like an actual home surrounded by unfamiliar dark.

Sound carries a heavy share of the tension. Creaking floorboards, distant movement, the hum of appliances and long stretches of near-silence are used to keep attention stretched thin, so that even mundane noises register as potential threats. Interaction focuses on everyday objects and household routines, with progression driven by responding to events as they escalate rather than by collecting items or solving elaborate mechanical challenges. Scripted frights arrive at moments designed to break the rhythm the player has settled into, and the darkness of the apartment is treated as an active presence rather than a backdrop.
