Make sure your GPU isn’t known to have crashes with the game. It’s mostly AMD cards. I can do a fight on Destiny Islands and then it crashes. The various fixes such as lowering fps and resolution to 720p didn’t help. Using integrated graphics gave me 5 mins of playtime. No joy with forcing DX11 either. PLEASE Square Enix do better with your ports, you’re a MAJOR AAA game company, this was a problem with the EGS release and you’ve had years to fix it. EDIT: Seems they’ve added the forum pinned post to the store page, detailing the affected GPUs. If there isn’t a fix soon then it’s best to rely on the community project KH Re:Fined, when it’s ready to be used with Steam. These are my favorite games of all time, flaws and all. I was so excited to finally get to play them on my Steam Deck all cozy in bed. Imagine my disappointment when I realize not only are these “new” ports still just as unstable as they were on EGS, but they somehow made them worse. I’m gonna list below issues specific to the Steam Deck, this new port, and then legacy issues from the EGS version that need to be fixed before I can recommend these versions.
