Doors and drawers don’t carry visible markers, but they still show a prompt at the bottom of the screen when interaction is possible. Sometimes, interactions are only unlocked once you’ve received the relevant objective or discovered the necessary clue. Fortunately, the arrow system prevents you from wandering aimlessly. Besides, there are no puzzles, and the most common thing you’re looking for is a key that opens the next door. Your character does speak occasionally, but there’s no voice acting, just subtitles. Because of that, it’s easy to overlook hints or objectives if you’re not paying close attention. There’s also no dedicated journal or task list to keep track of what to do next. Still, the game gently steers you in the right direction. If you try to go somewhere prematurely, like heading up the stairs before completing a task, it will stop you and provide a subtle reminder of your current goal. One upside is that the environment isn’t overly large. The apartment complex spans four floors, but you’ll only explore a couple of rooms. Graphics are decent, but nothing exciting because the place is abandoned, rooms looks the same, and darkness hides most details. Even after restoring some power and lighting the corridors, the game retains a haunting atmosphere. The darkness never fully lifts, and your flashlight only illuminates a few steps in front of you.
